Help Helosie!

How sweet is she? Innocently coloring with a pen (I know, a pen!), working on her fine motor skills.
Check out her awesome grip! I hope she doesn't enter kindergarten grasping her pencil that way. As you can tell from her story, she is highly intelligent. Have you ever seen a 2 year old possess such literary skills?
Uh oh! Look who got loose in the house with the pen...under my supervision. This is the ottoman in Elyn's room. If this was a slipcover, no problem. But, you guessed it, it's not. Notice the faint stain around the pen mark? That's Resolve cleaner that has dried. It doesn't get out ink stains on ottomans. Does anyone know what does get out ink stains? This is my first vandalism and I'm unschooled in the many products that are available to restore furniture to its fabulousness. Help!
And while I'm at it, I might as well ask for some more help. I am sad to say that I might have ruined 3 very good articles of clothing. Last night Picasso had red jello for "sert" (as she calls it). When she was finished, I stripped her down and threw her clothes in the washing machine. Twelve hours and a semi-restful night of sleep helped me forget about the jello covered clothes at the bottom of the machine. This morning, I throw in a load of whites and wash them. THEN throw them in the dryer. Only after I had started to fold them did I remember about the jello. The red spots on my white clothing helped me remember.
Notice the Clorox in the back of the picture? It didn't help. Are my clothes ruined? Does anyone know of any cleaning agent that is super powerful?
Hopefully Matthew can find a tie that will compliment the new red polka dots on his dress shirt.

Goop.....it works wonders.....you can find it in the automotove dept at Wal-Mart. It is really cheap...little over a dollar. Let it sit for a little while on the clothes before washing.

Ritt (I think that is the correct spelling) makes a product to clean whites. It's in a little box on the laundry detergent aisle at your local wally world.

I use Goof-off on everything. It stinks like paint thinner, which is probably is, but it is awesome. I bought a $140 Strasburg dress last week for $20 at a clothing sale. It had a Sharpie stain on the back of the collar. Goof-off took it right off. The only thing I can't get it to remove is rootbeer, of all things.

Dallas, hey. Tell me where you got lost and maybe I have a photo of that. For some reason, every time I loaded a picture, it would take another one out. So, I've got more visual aids if you need them. However, you're right, once you begin you realize it's not hard at all.
p.s. thanks for asking the ink question. I've got a 2 yr old picasso myself.

Dallas,

Try mean green for the ink stain. I have used it for years and had good results with it. It was recommended to me by a friend who is a doctor and she used it to get blood stains from surgery out of her scrubs.

I use a bleach pen for white items. You can use it on white even if there is print on other areas of the clothing. I have had good results with that too. The only thing is once you put in on the stain put it into the washer do not let it sit too long.
Then there is always the cleaners. I have taken items to them also and they have gotten out stains for me. One of Anna's smocked dressed had a yellow stain that would not come out and the cleaners was able to get. Hope these suggestions help!

Oh no! Looks like you got a lot of good recommendations which is good b/c I have no idea! I have dyed so many of B's shirts pink, and you'd think I'd learn, but I don't. H had a red crayon in his pocket once. Ouch. Well, I'm glad you got so much great advice that I'm going to totally steal now!

Tate recently took a permanent marker to the kitchen table ( I actually gave it to him!) Anyway, I quickly googled what to do and it said toothpaste of all things and it did the trick! Rub white toothpaste on the ink until it takes on the the color of the ink and hopefully it will come out. You really have a great attitude about it. The fact you can joke and post pictures is great. Nora is lucky to have you!

you might try spot shot for the ottoman. for the clothes, try mixing warm water, vinegar and dish soap (like dawn) together. let clothes soak in the mixture. this has worked on several of bailey's clothes.

oh yeah, the dry cleaners can get almost everything out!

Two ideas:
1. We love oxy clean in this house. I will soak things in it a couple of times for it to come out completely. My sister told me to rub the grains(mixed with a little water) directly on the stain before I soak it in a bowl of oxy clean.
2. Also, WD-40 is a miracle item. I didn't realize all of it's uses but it gets pen off the walls and is supposed to be very safe for most surfaces. Maybe google WD-40 uses and see if it is upholstery safe.
Good luck!

Ok, I was going to offer suggestions, but you already got a ton. Mine was hairspray (aerosol type, like AquaNet) for the ink stain.

I like the oxy clean idea. I used oxy clean on Nora's suitcase and remember how clean I got it. I'm thinking oxy clean for the ottoman. I love you, mom!
