Bye Bye Baby Fat

When Nora was born, I was ready to lose my baby weight, as I'm sure most moms are. My friend, Tesney, posted on her blog about Weight Watchers and how they have a program for nursing moms. Well, I read that and jumped on it right away.

It's that time again!

I joined online last night and expect to see the pounds just melting away.

Okay, not really. I realize that I will have to do some work, but I'm excited about the end results!

I typed in my height (I put 5'3") and my weight (classified) and clicked on the nursing button and voila, it came up with how many points I get a day and what my goal weight should be.

I get a TON of points each day...one of the many benefits to nursing.

But, then I read my ultimate goal weight...

113.1 pounds

When I got married, I was TINY, the smallest I had ever been (and have ever been) in my life. The dress I wore to my rehearsal dinner was a size 0. I had just run a half marathon, was moving to another state, planning a long distance wedding, and wrapping up a school year a week ahead of time. All of those factors equaled "small Dallas".

Even then, I was no where near 113.1 pounds.

If I made 113.1 pounds my ultimate goal, do you know how many interventions I would have to endure from well-meaning friends and family? I am sure I would be told over and over that I am too thin (which I would be), I need to eat more, etc.

So, even though WW thinks I would be perfect if I were 113.1 pounds, I am not going to set my sights on that number.

Instead, I am going to set my sights on the weight I was before I found out I was pregnant with Elyn.

Why not make my goal the weight I was before I had Nora, you ask? Well, we plan to have another baby one day and after that, I will make my "original" weight the goal.

I think WW is a great program! It's all about eating healthy and portion control. I love me some good food and now I have a way to make sure I am not eating 30x the amount I should.

I am still going to the gym and enjoying it. So, maybe by the time we get to October, 12 months after Elyn was born, I will have reached my goal.

Here I go!

I'm proud of you! You are motivating me to not be so accepting of my fatty-hood.

I've had great success with WW in the past. I forgot they had a plan for nursing moms, so I might check into that after I get to my six week mark.

I LOVE how you are always honest on here. love love love it. good for you for trying weight watchers. im thinking of joining. is it really expensive? we have a beach trip in a month and a half and I have seven pounds to go. i guess maybe thats unrealistic...but it wouldnt hurt to try...ugh. my weight plateaus more with nursing. I read that sometimes your body forces you to hang on to it. thats what I did with Aiden for a while. oooohhh how I hate my muffin top!!!

Girl, I'm totally understanding what you're talking about now! Granted I've lost MOST of my weight very quickly, but I can tell that these last 8-10lbs are going to be a killer! I can't wait until the 6 week mark so I can hit the gym!

And even though I'm about 8 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, why do NONE of my pants fit? I hate how everything just shifts around!

Good luck! I have GOT to do something about how I eat...mainly for my health in general but also to lose a few lbs. Greg and I made a pact tonight that we are going to be healthier...it's so hard but we are determined! You can do it!

The minute you get to that goal weight, you will be pregnant again!! I couldn't believe it after my six half marathon in six month challenge. I was down to my senior in high school weight! Then 5 minutes later, Lucy was conceived. Bye bye high school weight :)
