Race for the Cure

It's that time of year again if you live in Northwest, AR!

Time for the Komen Ozark Race for the Cure.

This is one of my favorite events of the entire year! I love just about everything about it.

I love the actual race, the pink ribbons everywhere, the crowds of people, the goodies that are passed out afterwards...but those are not even my most favorite things about the day.

What is my favorite?
The Survivor Walk.

It is so inspiring to see many who have overcome breast cancer, who have fought and battled with everything they have, who, even though they are in remission, are still fighting this disease with their whole hearts...to see them all walking together is amazing!

This year, like the past two years, our church is forming a team. There are many survivors that attend my church and we walk each year, for them.

If you go to Southside church of Christ, please sign up to walk (run) with us! You'll see pink binders in the lobby and in Sunday School classes that have forms in them. (Deadline is March 31). Or you can click here and join online. (Team name: Southside church of Christ)

If you don't attend my church, I encourage you to walk/run as an individual or join an already existing team.

But, the most important thing you can do is to be proactive! Get mammograms (yearly if you are 40 or older), clinical breast-exams and do your self breast-exams!

See you on April 25th!

I joined for the first year to be part of the people helping "set-up" the race here in KC. I can not wait to see everything & everybody! Best of luck with yours in AR :)
