I would like to introduce you to Mary and Joseph:
Obviously Mary and Joseph are not heading to Bethlehem, they are on their way to a dude ranch. And poor Mary, she can't find any blankets that cover up her exposed calves and ankles... scandalous for the times, I'm sure. (Not to mention the swimsuit top she is sporting.) (And Nora chose both "outfits" all by herself.)Nora (aka, Mary) is REALLY into the story of the birth of Jesus this year. She like to play with our nativity scene (it's a Veggie Tales one, plastic, we have small children) and rearrange all the parts.
Today was the first time that she has wanted to actually act it out. She is Mary (obviously, Mary gets to wear a dress) and Elyn is forced to be Joseph.
She called me back to her room after they had been playing "Mary and Joseph" for a while. She wanted to show me she had the whole nativity scene ready.
Joseph has changed into her (his?) swimsuit too (we had a short intermission during all the Mary and Joseph playtime to play a little "swimming pool in the living room"). Mary insisted that all the animals be facing Baby Jesus and she and Joseph needed to sit beside each other.

When I went to take the picture, she told Joseph, "Look at Baby Jesus!".
The picture makes me laugh! I love how the ducky house shoes are a part of the nativity scene too and she has plates of invisible food in front of some of the animals. (I mean, come on, they were probably hungry!)
I love her heart and her desire to play!
