What if your next one is a girl?

That is the question that I get quite often. Don't worry...we're not even close to thinking about having a third child!!!! Slow down stork visiting this house anytime soon!

But, still, the question bugs me.

I have always thought that 3 would be the perfect number of children. I am from a family of 2 kids, Matthew is from a family of 4...let's meet in the middle. I actually think Matthew would prefer 4, but his body is not being cut open every time and I don't know how well I would function staying at home with 4 kids. Not to mention how expensive those kids would be.

Anyway, I'm getting off the subject a bit. Since we have had Elyn people who know that we would like to have another day in the FUTURE...assume that we won't be happy if our last child is a girl. Why wouldn't we be happy? God has blessed us with a child. Here is my answer: if it's a boy, we'll be done, if it's a girl, we'll be done. One person even said to me, "You could just keep trying until you get a boy." Well, we would probably end up with 25 girls.

How accurate is the Chinese conception calendar for you moms out there? It is 100% accurate for me. But, again, I am not going to plan my future around some calendar that claims to be 99% accurate.

Just venting. I love my girls and would be tickled pink (sorry) if God completed our family-in a few years-with another sweet girl. But, I would be equally thrilled to hear, "You're having a boy" too.

So, there, question answered.

Too funny. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard that... especially when pregnant with #3. My only advice for a boy, pray hard and READ THE BOOK. I have it when you need it.

Okay, I could write a book about the woes of sex selection with our children and our messed up society. There was all this pressure for me to have a girl, the second time around, so I can imagine how you must feel with comments like that.

I like to say we are 99.75 percent "done," and Jamin is ready to schedule that V since we are like playing with fire when it comes to getting preggers, but I am not ready to shut that door yet, as I too am from a fam of three...and I always pictured three kids...but as the day draws nearer for Emerson to arrive I wonder if I will be completely overwhelmed with just two or not. AND I would like to be able to pay for things like their college educations (gasp) along with everything else in between. I totally see where you're coming from.

BUT it's like people aren't allowed to have a family of four boys or three girls or whatever, without coming across as "trying for a certain sex." And I am sure you are perfectly content! God gives us these children as gifts, and as you well know, people should never question that. I would've been happy with three boys as well. To be honest, now that I have a girl on the way, I am completely terrified! ;)

On ANOTHER note, This time I did a little research as to the timing of conception and tilting the scales a little...if you are ever curious. Maybe what Amy is referring to above... It was kinda fun to see what outcome we got...though I still think it all has to do with what the good lord gives us. (I prayed..though willing to accept another sweet little boy in the meantime!)

ok sorry this was so long. and opinionated.

Well, the Chinese calendar said I was having a girl- and baby Austin is on his way, so.....

Whatever God gives you, boy or girl, it will be exactly what you and Matthew need! :)

I would be tickled pink if the next is a boy or a girl, too! God has blessed us so graciously with Nora and Elyn. God is so GOOD!

I had a friend growing up who always said she was going to "have three so they could play jump rope"!!! I agree whatever God blesses you with is a miracle!! I love your new blog by the way-I still have no time to learn anything new on here.

The Chinese calendar says we are having another girl. Since, we don't know what we are having, we'll just wait and see. It was correct with Laura though, so it will be interesting to see what happens with this child.

I don't care either way. I'm happy with a boy or girl. And we will most likely be done having children regardless of the sex of our second child. At this point, I'm not ready to say that this will be our last child.....

I just feel blessed to have Laura and to carry this new child who will enter our world in ten weeks!

i don't blame you for being a little put out by that constant question! another one that gets me when you are pregnant, before you know, is "what do you want, a boy or girl???" ummm, i am praying for a healthy baby and thanking God that He blessed us with this baby to begin with!

as for the chinese calendar, it was right for annie and wrong for daniel and hudson. they were both supposed to be girls. i must admit the thought of going through hormones with 3 girls makes my head spin, sometimes i wonder how my parents did it!! something that a friend of mine has found that is very accurate is take your age at conception and add the number of the month you are due. if the sum is odd it is a boy, if it is even it is a girl. she calls it pregnancy voodoo!

by the way, i loved all of the bold and capitals indicating that baby #3 is not on the radar yet!!!

ps...went and looked at that calendar...correct with Aiden, wrong with Emerson...Unless she comes out a which point her nursery will be a COMPLETE redo! (the thought gives me a heart attack after thinking of all the time and moolah spent...ha!)

The CCC was accurate for me both times. I get that on the other side. When I had Lucy, people said, "Aren't you SO GLAD you have a boy and a girl? Now you can be done!" I think people just assume that it's every parent's life goal to get one of each. I hope I haven't said anything like that to anyone in the past!!
